Mechanical Lead

Job Description

Our client; a leading hygiene manufacturer based in Chesterfield. Due to business demand; they are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to work with their team; and take responsibility for the following:

  • Creating an environment for the necessary cultural change in Safety Performance
  • Safety audits done on time in full as per schedule.
  • Support the delivery of H&S training standards of all employees across the site.
  • Provide support to fulfil requirements of internal and external audits
  • Help identify possible improvements in the H&S management system.
  • Monitor status, suitability and where required create RA’s and SOP’s
  • Enforces with all personnel the adherence to safety rules and guidelines, leading by example.
  • Support all external audits
  • Ensure accident and Near miss investigations are carried out.
  • To provide hands on service to site operations where necessary.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of site assets.
  • Guarantees that products meet required technical specification.
  • Cooperation with the site Lead Team, shifts and site leaders is required to liaise between all departments to effectively realise the performance requirements across the site.
  • Effective maintenance and improvement of all operational assets to provide support and advice on operational output improvements.
  • Develop and coach shift teams process knowledge to achieve site KPI’s.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems to root cause in conjunction with all site disciplines to ensure a timely resolution and ensures lessons learned are corrected and systems are put in place to prevent re occurrence.
  • To understand the process theory to achieve and maintain a detailed knowledge of asset condition in order to effectively assist with maintenance planning and implementation.
  • Provide necessary support to continuous operation as needed.
  • Development and implementation of processes improvement programmes on site.
  • Communicates fully with team members through reports, documentation and meetings.
  • Carries out continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency in conjunction with the site management team
  • Contributes to the installation and commissioning of new projects.
  • Responsible for preventing reoccurrence of process equipment failures by root cause analysis and initiating solutions ensuring asset performance improvements along with the Engineering Leader.
  • Ensures the plant runs the best yield and energy use along with other departments.
  • Support cost saving initiatives on energy and Yield.
  • Liaise with team daily on resolving any issues raised by the DDS or support functions.
  • Liaise with external contractors on site ensuring the highest level of Health and Safety as well as quality are maintained.
  • Plan and execute all maintenance and upgrade tasks during a shut.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence across all levels, effectively managing both internal and external stakeholders.
